Analytics FAQ: What is Trend?

The trend is the percentage change of the data type from the previous time period. It's positive and green for increases (growth), and negative and red for decreases (decline).

How It's Calculated

Trend is calculated using the total for the selected time period and the total for the previous time period. The selected time period and previous time period have an equal number of days. For example, if you select the time period of Week (7 days back from today), the previous time period is the week before (8-14 days back from today).

Example #1

  • In the selected time period 1/4/2015-7/4/2015, there were 10 New Users.
  • In the previous time period 25/3/2015-31/3/2015, there was 1 New User.
  • The trend will show: 900% growth of New Users from the previous week.

Example #2

  • In the selected time period 1/4/2015-7/4/2015, there was 1 New User.
  • In the previous time period 25/3/2015-31/3/2015, there were 10 New Users.
  • The trend will show: 90% decline of New Users from the previous week.

Special Cases

  • If there is no data for the previous time period, the trend will not be displayed.
  • If the total doesn't change from the previous time period, the trend will be 0%.
  • If the total for the previous time period is 0, the trend is calculated using a total for the previous time period of 1.
